FEATURED PRODUCT POLICY

Prepared Guy typically purchases and reviews products independently. However, on occasion, he may consider reviewing a product upon receiving a direct request from a company.

Please note that Prepared Guy does not charge for product reviews.

Below is a list of guidelines and requirements that the requesting company must meet and agree upon before sending the product to the channel for review.

 Product Requirements for review & company guidelines

1.) Products must be suitable for everyday carry (E.D.C.), such as pocket-sized devices or items easily carried on the body, like flashlights, knives, multi-tools, watches, body cameras, backpacks, and pouches. We do NOT review firearm-related products due to YouTube algorithm restrictions, but we support the 2nd Amendment.

2.) Requests for reviews of unreleased products must be made several weeks before the official release date and products must be received a minimum of 14 days prior to any official release dates. The product should arrive at our channel within 10 business days after being approved by our staff to avoid disqualification. Affiliates must provide necessary product and promotional information 2 weeks prior any sales event. Video reviews by Prepared Guy will be released one day before the sales event, including early access and exclusive sales regardless of the requesting company’s policy.

Approved products must arrive at our facility within 10 business days after approval.

“All eligible products intended for feature must promptly arrive at our facility within a maximum of 10 days after receiving approval, otherwise your product will automatically forfeit the opportunity to be featured. the product will not be returned.

Older model items are less likely to get review approval. For new product reviews, send the product in its box to Prepared Guy at least two weeks before release. Only affiliated companies can make last-minute requests, but they may be denied. Complete the Product Review Request Form and await email approval before sending products. Unauthorized or subpar products might not be reviewed or featured on the channel.

The official video review must be published before your product's launch date. For instance, if your product launches on 3/20/2024, the video should be released on 3/19/2024. The review must be on YouTube at least one day before the consumer release date.

All products should arrive in their original packaging with all included accessories. Any missing items will result in disqualification for review, regardless of affiliate status.

All reviews are copyrighted in the US and internationally, including China. Re-uploading a Prepared Guy review without written permission is not allowed and violates copyright laws. Prepared Guy does not offer upfront payment for products.

We no longer accept "buy first”, refund after review" requests due to increased demand and funding constraints. Companies must send products to Prepared Guy headquarters at their own expense. We won't place orders on any websites. Our mailing address will be provided after completing the review request form and only after official approval by the channels staff.

We don't guarantee positive reviews. Products will be tested under strict E.D.C. guidelines and assigned ratings by Prepared Guy. We focus on highlighting good products only; any marketing value depends on the product's merit, not an unspoken agreement.

If your product doesn't meet our standards, it may get a negative review or no review at all. Prepared Guy doesn't make negative reviews but might reject or point out poor quality aspects. Your company will be notified, and in some cases, the product may be sent back if a prepaid shipping label is provided. However, this isn't guaranteed, and Prepared Guy can cancel a review anytime without returning the product.

If a product fails testing or arrives damaged, it won't be returned, and no second chances will be given for that particular product.

If your product doesn't meet our quality standards, it won't be featured on the channel even if initially approved for testing.

If needed, we'll inform your company about the issue without any obligation. Should your product fail our basic tests, the review process will be terminated.

Your product is not the only product being sent to Prepared Guy. Hundreds of product reviews are negotiated each month and we book out our reviews several weeks if not months in advance. Only a handful of products are selected to be featured out of those hundreds of requests. Do not expect that if you send a product to the channel that it will show up on the channel within 14 business days. Our standard production time is 14 business days once a product is received, however we can not produce (30) reviews simultaneously, your product can and will be reviewed in the order that it is received by the channel and with that said, our channel sponsors/affiliates will always take precedence over a random company asking for a free product promotion on the channel. Even if we are already in production for your company's product, we are obligated to review our affiliates/sponsored products first. Which means we will postpone production of your review until our obligations with our affiliates/sponsors products are fulfilled.

Sending the channel a product for free is not a form of payment to the channel. Prepared Guy holds no obligation to provide a video review or feature any products sent to the channel.  This includes affiliates/sponsored companies as well and it is considered a privilege to the company to have their product sponsored/featured on the channel. This privilege is based on the merit of your company's products' usefulness, over all quality and price. If your product does not meet our channels standards once in our hands you will not receive a review or a return of said product. This policy is based on individual products. Just because one product from your company gets rejected by the channel does not mean that your company overall was rejected by the channel. We may accept other products from your company. For example if (model A ) fails We will cancel the request for that featured product review, your company will still be qualified to get a review for (Model B). However, if you have sent more than 1 product that has been rejected by the channel consecutively we will black list your company from all future product review requests. LIMIT PER COMPANY FOR FAILED PRODUCTS (2)

If Prepared Guy can’t rely on your products then prepared guys viewers can’t rely on them either. It's nothing personal. It just costs a lot of time and money to create product reviews and to test all of the features independently in our studio. Spending extra time and money to pack up a product, produce a shipping label and drive said package across town to ship it back to a company would cost a lot of time and money. The channel rejects hundreds of products a year. That’s a lot of time and money diverted from the channel. 

IN SHORT:

1.) ALL PRODUCTS MUST BE E.D.C. EVERYDAY CARRY CAPABLE. IF IT’S NOT THEN WE DON’T WANT IT.

2.) IF YOU HAVE EXPECTATIONS OF A DEADLINE YOUR PRODUCT MUST BE WORTHY OF SUCH OR IT WILL BE REVIEWED IN THE ORDER THAT IT IS RECEIVED. Reviews may be completed within 7 to 10 business days which is the average production time, however a review for your product could be set back several weeks if not months depending on various factors. YOU MUST ACCEPT THIS FACT PRIOR TO MAKING ANY REVIEW REQUEST.  ALL PRODUCTS REQUIRE a (2) week scrutiny period in which the product will be thoroughly used on a daily basis. THIS MEANS THAT REVIEWS CAN TAKE UP TO 24 DAYS AFTER THE PRODUCT IS RECEIVED DEPENDING UPON THE PRODUCT ARRIVAL CUE.

3.) WE DON’T WANT TO BUY ANYTHING. NOT EVEN IF YOU REFUND US. WE GET HUNDREDS OF REVIEW REQUESTS EACH MONTH FROM COMPANIES ASKING US TO BUY FIRST AND THEY’LL PAY US BACK WHEN THE REVIEW IS COMPLETE. EACH TIME A COMPANY REQUESTS A REVIEW IN EXCHANGE FOR A PRODUCT/REFUND AFTER A REVIEW IS COMPLETED, THIS TIES UP CHANNEL FUNDING FOR MUCH HIGHER QUALITY PRODUCTS and TAKES AWAY FROM OUR CREATIVE PROCESS AND FINANCES. WE LOOK AT THIS AS IF YOU ARE ASKING US FOR A (LOAN AND TO WORK FOR FREE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO PAY BACK SAID LOAN) SO IF YOU WANT A REVIEW SEND THE PRODUCT TO THE PROVIDED ADDRESS. WE WILL NOT PAY OUT ANY TYPE OF FUNDS. YOUR PRODUCT COST PENNIES COMPARED TO OUR PRODUCTION COSTS.

4.) JUST BECAUSE YOU GIVE US A PRODUCT DOESN’T MEAN IT WILL BE LIKED BY US OR OUR VIEWERS. WE HAVE STRICT E.D.C. QUALITY GUIDELINES. IF YOU’RE NOT 100% POSITIVE THAT YOUR PRODUCT IS AMAZING THEN JUST DON’T ASK US FOR A REVIEW. WE GET A TON OF BAD PRODUCTS SENT TO US AND 80% OF IT GETS REJECTED FROM THE CHANNEL UPON UNBOXING AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS ALONE. DON’T BE THAT COMPANY, ONLY SEND A PRODUCT IF YOU KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT WON'T GET CHEWED UP AND SPIT OUT BY THE E.D.C. COMMUNITY.

Cooperation understanding

ALL REVIEWS ARE SUBJECT TO A 7 to 10 business day minimum creation time. It takes an absolute minimum of 14 days to create a Professional quality video with 100% of our energy focused on your product. In order to maintain channel quality there can be no rushed reviews. All reviews are subject to the 14 day minimum. (THIS POLICY APPLIES TO ALL AFFILIATES & NEW COMPANIES REQUESTING PRODUCT FEATURES)  

(NOTE THAT PREPARED GUY HAS A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE POLICY. WE ARE USUALLY BACKLOGGED WITH REVIEWS SEVERAL MONTHS IN ADVANCE) The sooner you contact the channel for a review the better. SOME requests from grandfathered co-operations (Past companies in good standing) may be pushed to the front of the line with their requests. Same goes for companies providing unreleased products for a review. These are considered deadline projects and they will take precedence over other requests. (An affiliate program is being created soon here on the channel)

Prepared Guy is not obligated to review any products not fit for the channel and all review requests are privileged. Prepared Guy does not receive or accept payment for reviews PERIOD! THIS KEEPS THE CHANNEL 100% UNBIASED.

Products in exchange for a review are NOT considered a form of payment. 100% of all reviews cost more time and money for the channel than any product is worth.

Here is a breakdown of this statement. 

Each product undergoes filming, testing, and real time usage.

Filming a high quality product review can take several days, this process includes, testing the product on our testing bench both on and off camera in our workshop, using the product in real time, showing examples, demonstrations of certain features, B-Roll filming and of course editing all of the filmed segments together, not to mention all the research and back and forth with questions to the company. 

This process costs our channel hundreds if not thousands of dollars in time and money for each review. 

So please understand that we need top quality products that will pass our tests otherwise it is an expensive waste of our time. Whether you send a $20 product or a $2,000 product to the channel, it will receive the same quality review process regardless of price.

With that said please understand that If a product gets rejected, we are taking a far bigger loss than the company that sent the product just by beginning testing and then having to stop production of a review video due to a product failure, it's a major loss on our part. With that said, rejecting products hurts us more than it hurts you.

On a final note, You are taking a gamble on sending a product to Prepared Guy unless you are 100% confident in the performance of your product, it is recommended to not contact the channel for a review if you are unsure of your products ability to perform. IF THERE IS A FLAW WE WILL FIND IT.

Prepared Guy only features and recommends high quality products to our viewers and is becoming a trusted standard in the EDC Gear community. Having your product reviewed on our channel is a badge of honor that speaks to the overall quality and integrity of your company's product.

IN SHORT, OUR TIME & EFFORT EQUALS MONEY, YOUR $200 PRODUCT THAT COSTS YOU $20 TO MASS PRODUCE IS NOT WORTH THE MINIMUM $300 TO $1,500 IT WILL COST US TO REVIEW IT. SO IMAGINE WHAT WE THINK WHEN YOU SEND US A $20 PRODUCT THAT COSTS YOU $2 TO PRODUCE AND WE HAVE TO PUT OUT $300 OF OUR TIME TO REVIEW IT AND WE ONLY GET 100 VIEWS ON YOUTUBE FROM FEATURING YOUR PRODUCT. IT'S A HUGE GAMBLE FOR US. THIS IS WHY WE ONLY WANT TOP QUALITY INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS HERE ON THE CHANNEL. ANYTHING ELSE IS A WASTE OF OUR TIME.

With that said the better the product the better the view count. In most cases more popular companies get more views. Sending us an old product will severely reduce the number of views your product will receive on the channel. We suggest sending us your newest unreleased products for best results and make sure the product is actually good.

RE-UPLOAD & SHARING CLAUSE

The Re-Upload and Sharing Clause

All video reviews and product demonstrations crafted by Prepared Guy™ remain the exclusive property of HGP Media, as delineated at www.HGPMEDIA.com No individual or organization shall disseminate, re-upload, redistribute, vend, or duplicate, in part or in entirety, any aspects of the videos generated by Prepared Guy™, even if it pertains to a product owned by the party in question. In essence, if a video is conceived and executed by Prepared Guy™, the rights to that video are solely retained by Prepared Guy™ and cannot be replicated or utilized in any form. Once a video review or product feature is uploaded to the Prepared Guy™ YouTube channel, it becomes the incontestable property of Prepared Guy™ with all rights reserved.

Legal action will be pursued against entities found to have breached this accord. By completing and submitting the Product Review Request Form, you inherently assent to the Re-Upload & Sharing Clause. Solely the original, unaltered link may be disseminated for promoting the specific product under consideration, with due credit accorded to Prepared Guy™. Any alternative forms of sharing will constitute a violation of this agreement. This covenant holds legal validity on an international scale.

Invitations

If you Receive a formal invitation from prepared guy to have a product featured on the channel you will be given the following guidelines.

You are hereby granted a period of ten (10) business days from the receipt of this invitation to furnish a response. Failure to provide a response within the specified ten (10) business day window will render the invitation null and void. Subsequent to such a lapse, you retain the right to initiate contact with Prepared Guide at a future juncture to solicit the inclusion of a product for feature consideration. It is imperative to refrain from dispatching any product to the channel prior to the affirmation of your invitation within the allotted time frame.

Please be advised that the issuance of a formal invitation by Prepared Guide does not, in any form, establish a binding commitment or an assurance that your product shall be selected for feature on the channel.
